Day 3: Bat angle and the top of the ball
One small skill. One game. One thing to remember.
The Bunt Foundation
Angle the foam bat slightly so a soft ball rolls down. Work slowly first, then try the small game. A parent or coach can help.
The reason
A safe grip and balanced stance make bunting easier.
One cue
Barrel above the hands.
Keep it simple
- Barrel above the hands.
- Practice in a safe space with an adult and stop if form fades.
Keep this
Today I can practice bat angle and the top of the ball with control.
Before you go
Show or explain the best choice you made today. What will you try next time?
Ask after practice
Tell your adult: What went well? What will you try next time?
Ten-chance skill game
Angle the foam bat slightly so a soft ball rolls down. Try up to ten comfortable chances. Give yourself a point for each focused try or smart decision, even if the result is not perfect.
Bronze 4–6 · Silver 7–8 · Gold 9–10. A better score replaces your previous score, without stacking points.
Day 3 complete?
Mark complete after you try the lesson. You can change this later.
Practice safely
Use a foam or age-appropriate bat and soft balls with an adult. Keep fingers behind the barrel and others clear. Follow league bunting rules.
If something hurts, stop and tell an adult. Keep throwing within your league’s rules and the player’s comfort.
