A smart player knows outs, runners and likely destination before the ball is put in play.
Set cones as bases. Adult announces six situations and player answers outs, runners and first responsibility before pretend pitch.
Say the cue out loud once — “Outs, runners, my job.” — then run The Situation Test again exactly like the first time.
Safe practice: Use paper/card or walking rehearsals for decisions. League rules differ by division and softball/baseball; confirm before trying live situations.
